What's in the kit

Twenty pages, printed on your own printer

Letter paper, plain or sticker. Cut on the gray lines. Everything is sized for the straight side of standard pint, quart, and half-gallon canning jars.

Blank labels, three sizes

Pint, quart, half-gallon. A chalkboard version like the jars in the book, and an ink-friendly version for any pen.

2

120 Family Jar labels, filled in

One for every mix in the book, with the water and the minutes from its page. The twenty Mix Day jars are all here.
A sheet of kraft gift tags
3

Twelve gift tags

One for each jar in Chapter 8, with the tag text already printed, a space for the date, and lines for To and From.
The scale table on one page
4

The scale table

Grams per cup for the ingredients that do the work, and what each jar holds. For the inside of the cupboard door.
The pantry inventory sheet
5

The pantry inventory

Twenty rows, with a column for the date filled and the date cooked, so the shelf rotates itself.
How to print

Three minutes, then the labels are on the jars

1

Print at 100%

Letter paper. In the print dialog choose "Actual size", not "Fit to page", or the labels come out small.
2

Cut on the gray lines

Plain paper plus a strip of clear tape makes a label that survives the cupboard. Full-sheet sticker paper works too.
3

Write and fill

A chalk marker or a white gel pen on the black labels; any pen on the ink-friendly ones. Then fill the jar.
Start with page 9
Print the Family Jar labels before your first Mix Day. The twenty jars of the Mix Day method are all there, already filled in. The rest of the kit can wait until the first gift.

About the author

Jenna Whitaker

Jenna Whitaker is a working mom in the Midwest who got tired of the six o'clock question. Twenty labeled jars on one shelf changed her weeknights, and The Dinner-in-a-Jar Dry Mix Pantry Cookbook is that shelf, measured out in three sizes so it works for two or for a crowd. She still buys everything at a regular grocery store.

"I'm not a chef. I'm the person who figured out how to stop thinking about dinner, and I wrote it down so you don't have to."
